Looking for a bike to do club rides, races and the odd extended day out. 1500 isn't an absolute limit but I'd like to stay around that area.

There are so many good quality bikes available in that price range a list of recommendations would run to so many pages you'd get bored reading them. You need to have a look round the online retailers to see a few that take your fancy and then gauge opinions on whether you could do better or not.

I hate to say it, but the Chris Boardman spec at 'orrible 'alfords is excellent.

A full carbon frame for £999, and a good SRAM spec for the price.

Worth a look, and pocket £501 for beers.

bear in mind, i havn't a clue what i'm talking about, but i am assured by others that do that, for a grand, it is excellent.
Only downside is the enforced involvement of Halfords, really

My plan is to go for a Ribble Scuro HCX with Centaur. About £1500.

Just waiting for the Cyclescheme voucher to come through the post...

Personally I dont think you will get better value for money than Planet X.

Everybody will like diferent things and have different opinions.

Have a look in the latest Cycling Plus magazine, it has a review of 37 bikes exactly in that price range! Not much to choose between most of them (depending on taste) but Giant, Willier and Time make the podium
