Are the rims used for 29" MTB wheels the same size as 700c road wheels?
Yes. Well, same diameter, anyway. Don't know about the width.

Cheers Doctor. It's for my cross bike. It's got discs and so instead of having wheels built specifically, I thought if I could get some off the peg, they would be cheaper and quicker to source. Width should be OK as cross tyres are 30-35mm.
Chain Reaction are doing an offer on some FSA 'cross disc wheels:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=21672 - my friend bought a pair and he was so impressed, he bought another pair!
I got some of them FSA wheels
Nice! I'll have to work out a way of sneaking them in under the radar!
Old stanbys include :-
They're old ones, I've had them for ages.
The others were worn out / had cracking round the spokes so they weren't safe.
Personally I just order them. I don't say anything about shoes, clothes or haircuts that cost £50 or more, and I don't get comments about new components, chains, wheels or lycra. Works both ways. Anything really spendy (my new carbon frame springs to mind), we discuss it first. Other than that, we just get on with it.
Why do they call these cyclocross wheels when disc brakes aren't allowed in cyclocross?
just a guess, but maybe there are some people about, posing on supposed cross bikes, egged on by marketing departments??
Separate names with a comma.
