520 plus forerunner 45 question

Just bought a forerunner 45, is it possible to connect it to the 520 for HR readings to be displayed on the 520 while riding?

Been trying but cant figure it out!

Or is it best to use the watch to record the ride and upload the data to strava including HR readings.

Yeah i saw that, does that mean i have to start activity on the watch as well as the 520

Ive turned broadcasting on started activity on both watch and 520 but nothing.
Do i need to pair devices or anything?
