700c wheel pref. with Shimano 8-speed cassette on wanted

The rear wheel on the Carrera seems to have gone kaput; i.e. it's clunking badly. Probably because I hit a mini speed bump this week waaaay too fast

So, I'm after a rear 700c wheel to fit a road bike, which will take 23mm tyres. It's got a Shimano 8-speed cassette on now and one with that would be perfect.

Anyone got one laid around that they want rid of cheaply?

This is my commuter hack, so decent spec is irrelevant here

Does it need truing /loose spokes? a rebuild with new spokes only cost me about £20 including truing so its worth considering if the rim is ok.

If the wheel can't be fixed you'd probably be better off transferring the existing cassette to the new wheel.

The spokes are OK, it looks like the hub is out/grinding. I'm guessing bearings can be replaced?

If not, it's a different wheel, hence the ad.

Think I've fixed it ... looking closer at the cassette there was a piece of wire stuck in it - that was causing the catching & grinding.

Mods - you could delete this methinks?
