You'll be fine with 8, 9 or 10 speed. My old Eastway had a 10 speed 50 outer chainring and it made no difference at all.

SJS cycles for instance, search130 bcd 52t dural chainring and they are 8 and 9 speed (compatible with both)
I've used then to replace FSA chainrings in the past and tbf, they didnt have the same quality of ramping but....as a workmanlike alternative at a good cost, they worked perfectly well enough and did last well. Meh, they probably dont shift quite as well but not terribly either. Its compromise, cost against quality, to me,, they were a good compromise.

Have a look at the chainrings on the Spa Cycles website here, or give them a ring if you need advice - they're very knowledgeable people.

I've got Stronglight chainrings on my tourer (purchased from aforementioned Spa Cycles), and can't say I've noticed any issues with changing gears.

Nothing wrong with stronglight. TA rings are also good.

Yep, TA are good - if you're on a Shimano setup, the Sora rings are widely available and listed as compatible with 8/9 speed...
