Advice on undertaking traffic in cycling lanes

I completely agree that a non-mandatory cycle lane isn't worth the paint it's painted with, but a mandatory enforced one is usually better than nothing.

Hmmm. There's one near me that requires you to give way at five minor junctions (having to look through 270 degrees on each occasion), and cross the main road at the lights. This is all in a stretch of less than one mile. And because the "mandatory" lane now exists, try using the road and you get a mouthful of abuse from WVM.

I'm going to the consultation this evening on the planned improvements. I'm not especially hopeful...
