Hi, I bought a new Dawes Galaxy 2 years ago to use when touring. Unfortunately I had an accident (not on the bike) and cannot ride it. It's been in the garage and now it's front brakes squeal when I've tried it. Can anyone suggest a quick fix to try as I want to sell the bike soon? Many thanks, Peter

Brakes usually squeal when the blocks are not toed in: the from end should touch the rim before the back. A toe-in of about 1-2 mm is all that is required. Another cause of noise could be from oil on the rim or block.

Thanks, folks. I found an oily smear on the pads and residue on the rim. After cleaning both I toed in the pads slightly too. Problem solved!
