aero bars on hybrid

hello all,i have a specialized sirrus elite and im thinking of adding aero bars to it for more comfort on long spins,has anybody tried this,is it even possible or should i just save up and convert to road bike,adding drop bars,shifters and brakes thankyou

Yes - as long as the bars don't get in the way of the cables. You'd need to make sure that the clamps will fit your bars (probably closer to the stem).

The extensions would also probably need to be cut down which you can do once you've found a reasonable position on the bike.

It's not unusual, and in fact some Dutch riders stick tribars on their heavy commuter bikes.

Why not? If It doesn't go right you have a pair of aero bars for a roadie.

The position won't be comfortable at first, but stick through it.

You could always put bar ends before the grips (seen it done) to give you a pointless not very aero position.
