Alternative to helicopter tape

Any members know of way protecting your frame thats more economical

I used a bit of clear sellotape when i ran out of the proper stuff, about 5 months it's been on there.

Old inner tube and cable ties. I'm weary of anything that is really sticky after lifting off chunks of paintwork on my Dahon trying to remove a "carbon" patch which was placed to protect a vulnerable area part of the frame whilst folded.

Sticky tape comes of easy, just warm it up.

Copter tape not really expensive - this 1m strip should make a lot of patches.

Cable ties. One big one round your headtube, one round each cable/hose and tied to the one on the headtube. Old inner tube on chainstays.
