Bad speelers of t wurld untie

I'm surprised, nay shocked, to be informed that there is anyone still posting on CC whose memory goes back to the pre public phone network era. ^_^
It was really rather poor in the early days!
(you can still find deadspots in remoter parts of the UK - no bad thing of course ... )

My parents, living in rural Wales, didn't have a house phone until the late 70s and that was a party line. Oh what fun that was, waiting for that to be free. So technically, those of us who lived at that address weren't part of the public phone network until then, and even when we had it installed, it was a bit hit or miss whether we could get connected when we used it. It was an Occasion when it rang, or we rang someone. Aah, the youth of today, with their do everything mobile phones! How would they have coped! (Shuffles off mumbling to himself).
