Best: belting down a massive hill and hitting 40mph - screamed like a big kid and scared the crap out of the local wildlife!!

Worst: Almost ending up underneath a truck on a really windy afternoon. Blowing a mental gale, long straight road over the top of some hills, leaning into the side-wind when the truck overtakes and I lean into the trailer/back wheels. New pants please, and life flashed before me. Had to stop and calm myself before carrying on.

Occasions when you hit silly speeds, or do a good TT ride (when I used to race)....... = good (e.g. over 60 mph with 4 of us grouped close enough to shout 50....55.....60 !!!! WHOOOO ------- in North Wales.

Great views......... etc. etc. Really enjoyed the Isle of Mann International Cycling Weeks..........in the early 90's.. fab, racing, watching races....brill. The IOM Mountain TT was something else.............

Worst.......dunno, accidents I suppose, but it's the 'after effects' not the accident happening.

One of the earliest best moments: I remember riding over my first ramp, made out of a plank of wood and a couple of bricks, riding a raleigh budgie when I was 6, not long after having the stabilizers removed!

And the worst was breaking heavily, again as a child and launching myself over the handlebars and face first into the tarmac... Ouch!

I don't know what the best moments I've had is, it could be completing a great ride (achievement), seeing something on ride that I most definitely wouldn't have saw in a car (experience) or it could be something else I ve had a fair few enjoyable moments on a bike.

The worst would probably be a near accident, like the time I rounded a roundabout (funnily enough) to find a 4x4 coming straight at me. I try not to remember the bad moments though.

On the whole the many good moments + other benefits outweigh the negatives and hence why I continue to cycle.

Good plan.

My best moment? Probably completing the first day of a tour in a foreign country. Got off the ferry without a clue where I was going to spend the night or anything, but I met loads of helpful people and it all worked out.

Best ? Hard to say, there's been so many. Getting to the top of Ventoux, being in a peleton of three along the Rhone with the Mistral in full effect as a tailwind, blasting down from Ditchling at 6 am, a 'bent sociable trike around Briesach am Rhine, the Cake Ride to Ashwell and Radwell, Llanberis Pass with Plax, London backstreets with Dalestar Landslide and Tdr1nka, a Norfolk ride with Waffles and family, Will1985 and Mike Burrows - really, I couldn't name them all.
Worst - any with really awful weather, a visit from the fairy and hitting a wall of some sort. Somewhere on here is a photo of me taken by Aperitif at the top of Ditchling. It was about 0545, I had run out of food and water, my legs had turned to jelly and I'd been up for 23 hours. Had someone offered to shoot me I'd gladly have taken them up on it.

There are no bad moments, just slightly less good ones, surely?

asterix has it about right though. There is a real buzz as you ride down the ramp of an overnight ferry, and off into a strange land...and the unknown...

Best - swooping down any smooth twisty hill.

Worst: sudden rear tyre puncture at 80 mph with a pillion passenger on the M11.

....sorry, that was motorcycling.

The C+ (Sorry for swearing) Sportive out of Donington a couple of years ago. We formed up into a peleton of 50-60 riders and got a motorcycle escort. Bowling along at 25 in the middle of a group whilst they stopped traffic for us

Best - rolling off the ferry in Holland and riding round the whole country, unsupported, on a bike tour. Riding with friends to a country pub for a summer's evening shandy. Riding 20+ miles after work in the rain and cold of a January evening because I can. Riding anywhere, where when I started I would have to get off and rest or push, now I ride up seemingly effortlessly.

Worst - Dangerous vehicle drivers and their nonchalant attitude to anyone else's safety.

Riding a TTT
Many years ago riding the IOW randonee joined 6 club riders from London and swooped down a hill in single file and it looked awesome from my point of view at the back, it convinced me that i needed to join a club.

Worst:
Getting knocked over.

Doing 30 miles last weekend (my longest ride yet)
Setting the 30mph speed warning thing off going down a hill on Weds

Worst
Any big hill I've gone up
Having my handlebar knocked by the wing mirror of a car, the driver of which thought he could overtake between me and a bollard (and I was passing a parked car at the time, so there was NO room!).
