Had an interview late yesterday (4 ish) down in St Austell, drove back to Bristol late last night and get a call first thing this morning offering me the job! i've been a city boy all my life (apart from a small stint in the welsh valleys as a child) so this will be a bit of a culture shock!

Anyways i start in approx 4 weeks so need to sort out gas and electric safety certs for my house to rent it out (negative equity so cant sell just yet but my sister is going to rent from us so guaranteed rental for a while yet) then rent a place down near the inlaws in cornwall with my wife and little boy! really looking forward to being able to tackle the tough climbs out of the little bays down there and to have my lad grow up with quick access to the beach and some great cycling roads ;)

Congratulations. I love Cornwall and would move there in an instant! What's the job?

I hope you like ice cream.

You'd better take up rock climbing, there is some superb sea cliff climbing in Devon and Cornwall.

Electrical safety certificate is not strictly a legal requirement. There again, you don't mention an EPC, which is. ;)

If it's your sister, you could legitimately say this is a family arrangement rather than a tenancy. That might be better with your mortgagee, too, otherwise you will need their consent and they are not obliged to agree; and even if they do agree, they often use it as an opportunity to move you to a worse mortgage at your expense.

Nothing wrong with having a formal tenancy contract with family members. That way everyone is protected and knows their rights if something should go wrong.

i love cycling, climbing and the sea so may look into taking up coasteering as well ;)

i go down a lot anyway go down all year in a caravan so to have a house there would be a step up! its working as a customer services advisor for an insurance company so moving away from insurance claims which i do at the moment. Much more face to face time (which is good cause i can chat for england!) and the view from the new office is outstanding!
