Bike hire and routes for Melbourne, Australia?

I may be visiting Melbourne, Australia in April.

Can anyone offer any info on:
1. Bike hire
2. Leisure rides/short tours in the Melbourne area.

Not sure where to locate the bike, but when you do get thyself to St Kilda on Port Melbourne, find Beach Rd and just keep going. None better.
