Can anyone recommend a LBS in the London area that's worth a visit purely for a decent range of clothing and footware?

Looking to get sorted with some proper winter kit in the next few weeks. And would rather take time to visit somewhere to try it all on and get it right rather than online, eBay, etc and end up wasting money.

Think the time of t-shirt and shorts has passed!

Condor on Grays Inn Road is good, Action Bikes on the Embankment is OK too.

Out of central there are a few places, GB cycles down south are good, but mostly team stuff I think

If you come to Spitalfields there are two Cycle-Surgeries and the biggest Evans in the country within a five minute walk from each other.

Beat me to it.

The Evans is still staffed with dummies though.

Heh heh  To be fair, on the one or two occasions I have actually asked for help there the boy has not known the answer but has gone out of his way to provide assistance.

There is another shop called Brick Lane Bikes around the corner who have an excellent mechanic who is also the owner, an Eastern European guy with a goatie, can't remember his name. He knows everything there is to know about bikes. In addition if you ever require any work doing on your bike it will be in and out on the same day*.

Actually didn't I direct you there a couple of years ago about a folder and he couldn't help? Could have been someone else I suppose!

No, you're absolutely right. I took a Brompton rear wheel in there and he said in a Polish accent "And you can f$£% &*( as well" which I took to mean he couldn't fix it. No he was quite up front and said it was a very specialist job (it was) and it looked like it would need a new hub (it did).
