boardman comp 2010 v latest model

Initially after deciding to upgrade to another CB (san remo to echelon) I've decided to dig a little deeper for a better spec. ive heard good things about the boardman comp road and the spec looks decent for the money. I've spoken to some cyclists that rate the 2010 model higher than the latest. This may sound a tad naive (i am new to cycling!) but the one thing that puts me off this bike is that they sell it in halfords and i generally associate their gear as overpriced.

Firstly, does anyone own one of these and rate them for the money based on what else is available on the market for the same price?

Secondly, is the 2010 spec better than the latest edition - if so why is this?

I've never heard of Halfords being over-priced for bikes. The main problem is the variability of quality of the staff, and the bottom end stuff being BSOish.
On car parts I find them fiendishly expensive.
