At the moment i have a shimano fc-4550 bottom bracket
If i get a better one will it improve my riding?

To be honest I would doubt you would notice a difference. However changing your wheels and the world is your oyster...

Best way to improve your riding - pedal harder.
I often look at expensive upgrades then think, what is the point when I can still make gains out of this bike by cycling faster!

To be more serious, I wouldn't bother changing the bottom bracket unless/until it was worn out, get more expensive gear might lighten the bike a wee bit (and will certainly lighten the wallet) but for significant improvement in performance there is no substitute for time in the saddle...
