but whats the difference between a front and rear brake caliper??

i have a sram rear caliper - want to know if i can put it on the front

Just the length of the central bolt - the front has to pass through the forks and so is a bit longer. Your rear won't fit unless you have one of those long nuts.

ok

on looking at my front forks - the stud doesnt go all the way through it - it seems to be recessed at the back of the fork and the fixing bolt goes inside

might see if it will go in tomorrow
 
One solution is an extra long back nut.

just did some fettling and the front bolt doesnt come through the forks enough to fit the fixinf bolt onto - so did a bit of fettling and now my brakes are running pretty sharp

will go for a spin in the morning to check them out me thinks.....but not to early its cold tmrw :cold:
