You need your sound turned up. What is really remarkable is the sheer cool and professionalism of the captain.

Just about anywhere you take off or land in Europe there are people with video cameras trained on your plane hoping for that big money-making break.

Pretty good to think it could still gain altitude, turn and land on the one engine. Good work from the crew.

For all their power, modern jet engines are very delicate pieces of machinery - if something hits the compressor fans it usually breaks them and kills the engine stone dead.

Although their delicacy can come in handy for unwary persons(!) - see this:

They usually stay up, so long as they are going forward....... not even a wobble when the engine was shut off - i.e. when the flames stop....

Mind you, what if there were 2 birds?

Yeah, with both engines dead, it would have been stuck up there all day!
