8C+ impressive climbing.
Top climbs in my day were sort of E7 6b ... is this the same sort of grading? Difficult to put an E grade on that, too many bolts too little consequences.
No, it's a different system - English tech grades top out at about 7a or 7b at the moment, and I think that E11 is still the top end of the adjectival grade. James Pearson graded one of his climbs E12 recently, but it was swiftly downgraded to E9 on the first repeat. Dave MacLeod, who made that repeat also put up a climb on Ben Nevis called Echo Wall which he refused to grade, saying simply that it was way harder than his previous testpiece Rhapsody, which I think got E11 7a.
Sports grades on safe bolted climbs reach 9b currently. I'm pretty sure that 8c+ is still the hardest onsight at the mo.
