Can you fix a split seat?

The vinyl has split about half inch long on the edge of the seat on my commuter bike. I must have lent it against something sharp. Its right on the edge ,

I dont think my rear end touches this bit in normal riding so would a glued on patch be a good idea to keep water out? Anyone know what glue/ material to use.

No, but it would have been a cheapo from the kitchen cupboard.

I had an inch long tear in my saddle about 6 months ago and glued it back together with bog standard bostik. It doesn't look pretty but has held up okay.
