Can you transfer MS licenses?

I bought MS Office for three users and installed it on three computers. One has now died - you can still startup in safe mode, but that's about it. Is there any way I can transfer that third 'right' to another machine? (When I try to use the CD, needless to say, it just says 'nope - yer've 'ad yer installs - that's yer lot mate.')

You can ring Microsoft licensing and they can delete one of the activations on their server

The licence will still work, but instead of using the code on the box to activate it, activate it using telephone (there should be a option on the install screen).

You can only activate the newer Microsoft products 3 times online.

Install as you would normally using the code from the box & activate over the phone. It's automated & you shouldn't need to speak to a human. When it asks you how many computers the product is activated on, just answer indicating that you are keeping within the licence terms.

If you do end up speaking to someone, DO NOT try & explain the situation as per your OP!! They read from scripts & do not think logically
