Thanks, dont suppose you've cycled to Telford, Shrewsbury along route 81? If so, is that fairly easy or not?

Yeah, done that a few time, but more often to and from walsall, I sometime do the Wolverhampton run to extend the ride.

Towpath all the way going from good to "a bit ruff in places", but never bad.

  • There's a very long, dark tunnel. It has a railing between the path and the water so it's safe, but you can't always see the railing in the dark so it can be a bit disconcerting.
just wondering how long is the tunnel m8?

done the netherton tunnel a couple of times thats quite a buzz lol

The section under the M5 can get very boggy when it's been raining.

if you stay on the birmingham new line after the barge and barrel it's not as boggy as the old line by the m5

I'm going from ellesmere to Hythe in Kent via birmingham and down Grand Union. Hear its bad at Braunston.not a good path. Anyone done that ride? Any advice. taking my 12 year old son and doing it in 6 days
