Carrera Mondiale heritage

Hopefully this is posted in the correct place. I have recently been given an old bike, Carrera Mondiale. It is showing its age and is a steel frame. Being a Carrera my first thought is Halfords however it has Shimano 105 brakes which seem a bit upmarket for Halfords.

Can anyone suggest where I can find out a bit more information about this model

I am not aware of a 'halfords carrera' bike called a mondiale in the last 20 odd years.
Unless its older than that it could be from a small company in Italy who have had an occasional link to the British market over the years.
Stephen Roche won the Tour,Giro,Worlds treble on an Italian Carrera.
What can you tell us about the the frame etc?

Since posting this I found an advert on Gumtree for what looks like the same bike. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/i...ale-105-groupset-excellent-condition/99841772. This seems to tie in with your thoughts that it is Italian.
