I wonder what Fawlty Towers' reviews would have been like if they'd had t'internet back then.

There is a B&B in York that has some seriously bad reviews. IIRC it caught fire about a year ago.

Reading the reviews it sounds no different from many of the hotels where I've stayed in Africa, broken porcelain, filthy sheets with pubic hairs in them, previous user's possessions still in the room, mould, dank smell, dangerous electrics, broken door locks, the only thing I didn't read was the sound of cockroaches scuttling into the corners when you opened the bathroom door.

From Google I see that Wolverhampton City Council recently paid £150,000 to prevent the hotel being sold to the Hilton group - who have now pulled out anyway - so that they can pull it down as it's an eyesore. The owners are Parmjit and Balbir Kalirai. I guess there's no incentive to spend any money if your hotel is about to be knocked down.

We stayed in the worst hotel in France, here's my review: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUs...te-Serre_Chevalier_Hautes_Alpes_Provence.html

The Fox bar was great in the 90s. The hotel part has always been a sh*t hole and no, I haven't rented a room by the hour ;)

Not the worst ever, but certainly the worst I've ever stayed in:

http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_...er-Manchester_Greater_Manchester_England.html

I always check Tripadvisor before I book anything, but this was booked for me through work as I was going to spend a couple of weeks at our sister factory in Manchester and it was the closest to work. I spent one night there before moving to another hotel... and what do the locals call it?

'Little Beirut'

I've always booked my own business hotels since.

I stayed in the Britannia for a night about 5 years ago.

The one in Salford (can't remember it's name off hand, I'll have to look it up) was much, much worse.

I can't remember the name of the place but I stayed at a hotel in Heywood for a wedding and they had the usual tea and coffee stuff in the room, but it was all placed on the radiator including the little cartons of milk. Not only were they nicely off but one burst open when I tried to move it!xx(
The biscuits were soggy too and the loose teabag was left in a damp cup so was already trying to brew.
