Change chainring on Shimano Steps?

I am soon probably taking delivery of a used Kettwiesel trike with a Steps motor and 44 tooth chainring. I suspect this gearing may be a bit high for my purposes so is it possible to easily change to a smaller ring? Alfine hub gear on the back.
Is it just as easy as a normal bike or are there things I should know in advance?
