right.........i know, i know i was going to order the Felt, i weighed up all the advice and was about to pick up the phone. However i thought ill have a last minute browse .....i came across the Ribble site and this glorious looking specimen http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/details.asp?D=&Cat=RIBBLE&Section=XRIB&GenCode=RIBBXRIB1000

Does anyone know anything bout Ribbles....any good? good reputation, better than the Felt.....i love the Carbon weave look of it when you enlarge the picture!!!

The upshot is im wavering and still have not made the final decision.....opinions again please.

Did you realise gtgf that the links in yuor first post were for bikes on offer as they had limited frame sizes left...or were you just using those links for pics?

The Felt looks very nice, as does the Giant.

The Focus Cayo is one of the best bikes around for the money too.

Also visit here for some nice machines:

I'm saving up to spend £1k on a road bike to matey....you'll be getting yours much sooner than I get mine so you'll have to let me know how you get on. Maybe we could check out a few and report back on our findings. My LBS is pretty good, although they mainly deal with Specialized bikes. I do have an Evans branch quite close to me though and another specialist bike shop that cater for top end machines. It'll be worth a visit to these shops for a sneak preview. ;)

Steve - i rang evans today and they were trying to push a Trek 5000 at £999 nice looking bike but im not sure if i should go for a real corporate recognised bike like Trek or go for a more independant brand like Planet X, Dolan or Ribble.
I really dont want to spend much more than a grand so im limiting myself to this price point.
Tried Wiggle in the hope of possibly getting the Focus Cayo but they have no large sizes left.
I just dont know what to do im so indecisive. I know though that £1000 is a big outlay for me and im not taking the decision lightly. I cannot see me updating parts anytime soon so whatever i get has got to be fairly future proof. Im drawn to carbon frames .......well i dont know why, i think its just for the snob factor (lame i know) but i also like the look of a bike decked out in that black carbon weave look.
I think the best deals can be got by looking around on the net but that kind of limits the opportunity for test rides. I do have a Giant dealer at the end of my road but for some reason i have something against giant bikes ....dont know why but to me they just dont look that cool and the name just does nothing for me. I know his is a piss poor argument but people have said just get the bike you like the look of and for me thats not going to be a giant.....then again ill probably totally contradict myself and be ridiing one in a few weeks.

Ah well ........ill make a decision some day soon.......although by the time i actually get to that decision all the reduced price bikes will be gone and ill end up outside Halfrauds waiting to but an Appolloxx(

P.S hows the neighbour situation????

I saw that Trek 5000 mate...it looks great. I would say that Trek are quality machines....nearly all of the bikes I see on the road are Trek bikes....they do look good, you get value for money and a good image. I know what you mean though mate...go for something exotic....sounds nice. This loosk damn tasty to me: http://www.wheelbase.co.uk/cgi-bin/trolleyed_public.cgi?action=showprod_07WILEVASIONMIRA Have a look at the rest of bikes on this website.....thats what I'm doing right now...;)

Neighbours have been quiet of late mate...even had a chat with them downstairs...although the bloke next door is still a **** and I will never bat an eyelid at him again. ;) I'm sure the bike you buy will be the right one...at £1k I would still get the best frame/fork you can get....you may wanna upgrade in the future. ;)

Ive been on this website before mate and checked out the Williers on other sites ......they are cool bikes and i like the name and image but sometimes the colour of the frames can be a bit like an explosion of sick in the dulux factory.....way too much colour man

I'm sorely tempted to jump the gun as of course the credit card (although interest free period has expired) still has the standard interest free period for 59 days (my card does anyway)...si will have been paid twice by then and be able to pay it off in full. ;)
ooohhh the temptation.
;)
