How much is that in today's money? You could buy six pints of beer and have change for £5 when HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy came out. Mars Bars cost 6p in 1973, while Milky Ways cost 3p.

Still, GDP has more than doubled since 1975, adjusting for inflation, so presumably that £32 probably felt more like £418.
