CIRCA 1999 PURE BIKE PORN

Bought this as a stock bike only original parts left frameset XT front mech(cos I like it) and seatpost clamp.Latest addition about 5 years ago Chris King headset.

Special points of interest are custom made titanium stem.Dt Ti spokes and the beautifull external bearing Coda Cranks (pre the threadless ones) makes campag,shimano etc. look like Tescos Basic!

These cranks are super stiff, and light.For those unfamiliar with them the arms are made in 2 halves lugged and bonded together aka space shuttle technology. The radius splines fit like a glove,not like octalink or isis rubbish.Flick them with your finger and they ll spin for 30 secs on silky german bearings.

Full Spec;
Scott endorpin pro racing carbon frmeset.

Wheels.
Hugi 240 hubs (you can hear that freewheel comming a mile away) on mavic rims DT swiss Ti spokes (Bugger to get spares ,but ive a few left)& USE Ti spinstix.
Brakes
Avid single digit Ti with speed dial levers.
Drivetrain
Coda Chainset,Talon chainwheels,XTR rear mech and Cassette, Sram chain.
Forks
Sid race or Pace RC 30 carbons (depending on what Im doing).
Controls
Easton carbon bars,Titec carbon barends,Ti Stem,Tioga grips.Xtr rapid Rapid fire rear,XT friction front(Love it on the front for trimming plus its lighter than rapid fire). Chris King headset.
Other
USE alien 270mm carbon seatpost,Litespeed Ti saddle. Ti & ali bolts throughout.

Utter self indulgence probably wont build one like this again.Raced it for years
Blats round Welsh forests now and it still turns heads!

Yes it was pretty much all XT used it all on My Trek VRX.Pretty much bullet proof does the job it was designed for and at the price Im a fan too.

Blimey - that is one full on XC bike - 10 year old carbon...flippin eck ! Some quality stuff there.

I'm well chuffed with what my XT/LX equipped steel rigid MTB can still do - pre date's any suspension systems.....

What's the advantage of having the rear triangle like that? It'd put the seat tube in bending, not a good type of loading for tubes really..
