No idea but we renewed ours this week and they asked if we had had any accidents including ones we didn't claim for. (Not sure how that would change things).A man put a small mark on my car . probably only £150/£200 worth of damage , i would like to know even if i claim off his insurance will my next premiums go up and if so does it go up by much and for how long .

Could go up even if not your fault, as the insurance companies use stats to show that once you've had a non fault claim, the risk is higher that you'll have a fault claimA man put a small mark on my car . probably only £150/£200 worth of damage , i would like to know even if i claim off his insurance will my next premiums go up and if so does it go up by much and for how long .
With many companies now you only have to declare claims for 3 years (5 years for points and convictions).
Not with the company I'm with (esure) , nor lots of others. Some are 5 tis trueIts 5 years to declare claims
Maybe I've just sought out the ones that ask for 3 years, probably as I've had a few claims over the years, theft, fault and non fault! In recent years, I've been with Sheila's wheels (esure) and the admiral groups, they all ask about 3 years of claims. I live in a reasonably high risk area and drive a reasonably new, high powered car...the likes of Aviva, Direct line (not that I'd give them money as they are the gits who made an insulting offer in my PI claim and are now dragging their heels), Churchill etc seem to come out 50% more expensive for me. I'm stuck with Sheila's wheels for a bit after having a car stolen and a fault accident within the last 2 yearshttp://support.confused.com/confusedcom/topics/how_long_do_you_need_to_declare_claims_for
"We ask for you to enter the details of all claims within the last 5 years on our site as most insurance providers will require 5 years history.
If you are obtaining a quote with an insurance provider directly, the question should be noted as 'do you have any claims within the last 5 years' or 'do you have any claims within the last 3 years'."
Although people can be weird. I had a bloke hit the back of my old Mondeo, smash the yoghurt pot bumper to bits in his shiny Beemer (probably his mums shiny Beemer as he was 12) A replacement was £150 painted so we talked settling outside insurance then suddenly he went all "must be insurance" and the hassle was extreme. I definitely lost out on it with time farking about getting multiple quotes and chasing insurance companies and it was a huge annoying faff. If it didn't end up costing him £1000+ in premiums over the next few years I'd be stunned. I ended up with a cheque for a little over £200 for a bumper I repaired with gaffer tape but only made because I didn't care about putting it back to where it had been.As above, I'd be surprised if he'd want to settle through his insurance as he will likely have an excess and it'll put his premiums up. If it's a business vehicle, I guess he won't care much however

If you claim off his Insurance, then your premiums won't increase. But he may want to pay you without going through his insurance company and that would be acceptable.
It would make you complicit in insurance fraud.
