Climbing? Scotland? Kidnapping? This looks a good film.

Looks very good.

Isn't that Buachaille Etive Mor in the clip? (Oooh, I have a tale of derring-do from that hill in winter-time, but i'll leave it for another time).

The clip reminds me of a Norwegian film - 'Fritt Vilt' - means 'fair game'. Three films in a series, the third being the best.

From the clip it looks as if the action was filmed in winter, which would explain the lack of midges.

Not fair - Do it, do it now.... you know you want to

Haven't done that one yet. Closest I've been is Bidean and I've got a couple of short video clips of me and the missus retreating from the top, barely able to stand against the wind.

A couple of days later we'd headed in to the Mamores and were on our way back down from the top of Sgurr Eilde Mor in the snow, when I rotated my right knee, breaking a piece of articular cartilege from the femur. It took me over 4 hours to hobble back to the car in Kinlochleven.

Since my op, I've managed to get back in to the Cumbrian hills, but I've never had the opportunity to get back north of the border. The real bummer is that I missed the best 2 winter seasons we've had down here for a long time.

You could have padded that one out for our benefit. Struggling to return with night falling, temperatures plummeting, gritted teeth, horizontal sleet, the pain making you delusional, you know, that sort of thing.

I'll save my story until the muse, or the spirit of Glenlivet, takes me.

Hope you manage to build up the knee again. So you can get back up north.

The way I write, that would be even more boring....

Looking forward to that....

Its well on its way and other than high impact running, I'm managing most things with it. I'm hoping for loads of white stuff again this year as I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms.
Striding Edge on ice or Sharp Edge in a whiteout....

It's not a bad film.

I saw it last week, and it moves along at a fair pace, a nice and easy enough way to pass approx. an hour and a half.

If I had to be picky, it is indeed B.E. Mor. In the opening scene, they are seen climbing it before going back to a cottage in the middle of nowhere. Next day they're out again when the main action starts and they start to make thier way to a place I think I heard as Achallander. A bit later one of the characters comes out with the line, "we've got to try and get to the A9." That's a long way from Glencoe as far as I'm aware!

Nothing can be as bad as that bloody awful Cliffhanger film with Stallone - the climbing was a joke and the film just descended further and further into farce as it progressed.

BTW I'm struggling to find anywhere to see the new film; might have to get it on DVD.

There was that one stunning shot from above, with the girl dropping to her death after Stallone let go; but "bloody awful" for the rest of the Cliffhanger is more than charitable.

And I've done all the Munros. And all the Tops. If anyone cares.

I was really into rock-climbing when that film came out. I'd watch anything that had anything to do with rock-climbing at the time. That film was total crap.

I'd thought that, since Stallone has a good physique, we should get some good climbing scenes. Nope. He makes William Shatner (in one of the Star Trek films) look like a proper sport climber!

Oh, by the way..
