Computer question (slightly cycling related)

When I connect my Garmin to my PC to upload my cycle routes, I get an error message telling me to copy the message to the clipboard and then send this message in an e-mail to Garmin. Now it gives me a "yes" button to copy to the clipboard but how or where do I find or retrieve the clipboard information to attach to the e-mail going to Garmin?

I would take a guess that if it genuinely has been copied to clipboard, you should be able to retrieve it and put it in your email by right clicking and selecting paste, or by the keyboard shortcuts, either Shift + Insert or CNTL + V.

You should also have a view clipboard option somewhere but I'm not sure how to bring it up in the more modern versions of Windows.
