I though that this was an interesting article from the Manchester Guardian 75 years ago. (Safety Track for cyclists, about half way down the third column). Liked the reference to the green swards of the Western Avenue in Ealing. "I remember when all this was fields..."

Interesting also the figures for road accidents, with almost twice the numbers killed on the roads back then. And the NCU didn't like them.

LOL nice find there. Actually the follow up article is pretty good. The horrificly high fatality rates (for road users as a whole) continued for long after the 30s ;).
