Snap! I've just posted a link to the video footage over in chat.

What can you say to such a moron?

I wonder if he indicated his intention to cross the tracks before doing so.
  4. I thought at first it was one of those bright sparks who ignores the warning bells&lights and 'just nips round the barrier'

At some level crossing there's a sign saying 'Give Way to Trains'

Which seems a very good idea, beats me why anyone would need to be told....

He's got ideas above his station and has clearly crossed the line.

They said "Police believe he may have been drinking, or have taken drugs."
I think he's definitely gone off the rails at some point.

Do you reckon he'd already gone clipless, or was using platform pedals?

I think the train did in this case.

    Obviously a track cyclist.

He needs properly trained in use of railway stations.

Thankfully it was a local line only, otherwise it could have been Virgin on the ridiculous.

Maybe he was campaigning to get the railway line converted into a new Sustrans route...

This gem from the report itself (my bold):

"As he tried to climb back onto the platform he fell back on the tracks, just missing the live rail.

Pc Graham Cottington, of British Transport Police, said: "The footage in this case is truly shocking. "

    As is the live rail....

I know there are problems getting bikes on trains, but it would seem that there is no problem getting trains on bikes....

He obviously needs to learn how to gauge the potential risk better.
