Looking at doing the 100 mile a month ride next year, and trying to plot a
quietish route out towards delamere forest and noticed the ncn 70 runs
out from Manchester airport area,
How well sign posted is it?? Any areas to avoid i.e muddy tracks??

I've been over to Delamere a few times-probably got some rides/gpx files you can have a look at. Lots of quiet roads that way.

The bits I've done on NCN70 as part of rides in the area are quite well signed. In general NCN routes are reasonably clear. If you ever get to a jct and there's no sign then you've missed your turn and need to backtrack. Sometimes the signs are not obviously placed, wrapped around lamposts or hidden by an overgrown hedge but as I say you soon know if you've missed it.

If you look on Bikehike and click on the OSMcycle box, top right, it shows clearly where the NCN routes go. That and a bit of Streetview research at jcts, should be all you need to clarify the route.
