I'm a retired BT engineer and am trying to re engage with cycling after a long layoff. Originally started cycle racing in Guyana in the late'50's early '60's, moved to England 1966, joined the Shaftesbury C.C., left them because of other commitments (wimmin), am now with the Veteran-Cycle Club and the Edmonton C.C. and trying to get some early miles in but being held back by the cold weather.
Interested in older bikes, especially Carltons, but try to keep up to snuff with the newer bikes and equipment, would really like to try out the Shimano Di2 electronic groupset but way beyond my budget. Will be riding the Shaftesbury 53k Audax on 6th March at Henham and go out some Sundays with the North London V-CC or the Edmonton crowd.
Willing to help with sorting out bikes and equipment but am not a proper bike mechanic, only dabble with minor mechanicals.
