As I said in a previous post I was surprised to see the Eastern Cycle Carriageway of the Forth Bridge closed to cyclists earlier this week.

I checked on the website and I saw the following:

Footpath/Cycleway Restrictions:NB CHANGE

Under normal operating conditions EAST footpath/cycleway access is restricted to Forth Road Bridge personnel and contractors only. Pedestrians and cyclists should use the WEST footpath/cycleway for access/egress. (The national cycle route runs to and from the east cycleway). These restrictions may be subject to change due to operational requirements.

This means that folk using the National Cycle route have to move from one side of the bridge to the other and back.

Is it just me or is this daft !!

Been like that for over a month now, doesn't make much difference really.

The only pain in the bum is the short, steep gradient on the northern end. However, it is possible to miss it by turning off earlier at the hotel, through their car park onto the road into North Queensferry.

I also use the access road at the southern end to get back to the other side, rather than going across the Echline roundabout
