I'm thinking about buying a chromebook. Occassionally I need to work from home via an RDP connection to my PC at work.

I know Google Chrome has an RDP capability but has anybody ever used it to conncet to a PC running Windows 7?

Not used it personally, but there is an interesting article here from someone that has jumped through various hoops.

Chrome is a Linux based OS as such it follows open standards, microsoft changed the RDP in win7 and win2008 server so that its no longer follows the open standard exactly. As such you will have no issue using RDP from a windows machine to these devices but other OS's will have issues.
Its how Microsoft keep control of their market... its why you should not use Microsoft OS's and use Open document formats rather than be locked in to Office DOCX format... its all about making you dependent on Microsoft systems rather than making great products.
