can't get my trousers past my huge thighs!!
had a bit of a scare today when I got knocked of the bike this morning!!! completely idiotic driver too busy looking the wrong way and playing with his phone!! went something like this

right theres a car coming up to turn in front of me on the left and im in the clearly marked cycle lane!!!
right he aint really slowing down...but sure he's looked to the right before he turns out right???
oh sh*t is he goin to stop....nope he aint!!
clips my back wheel and I do a few rolls......bounce up like a spring and go absolutely crazy at the guy!!

hi-vis...LED lights....bright yellow bike and to top it all of it was in broad daylight!!!!!!
he did say it was his fault.....I sed no sh*t u weren't even looking.........silence...
then I went mental again spitting a varying amount of expletives and comments on his ignorance and daydreaming....which he replied my brakes didn't work!!! I watched him the whole told him that he was bullshitting...he was simply in his own little world..not looking and was a useless cu*t!!!

didn't get his registration or anything...was more than a little shaken and pissed off......didn't think till he was already away.....so police station for a statement...then hospital for an x-ray!!

torn some shoulder muscles......brused forearm/bones...got off failry well considering I got hit with a car!!

happy days  oh and my new bikes completely feckered......gear changer at the cassette in bits now too...chains snapped aswell

Easy to say with hindsight but you'd probably have got his details volunteered if you hadn't totally lost it with him. You get more with sugar than vinegar and all that.

Glad you're relatively ok but don't decide how well you are for a few days when the shock & adrenaline wears off. I didn't think my last car inflicted off was that bad at the time and carried on as normal for a week or so and took a few months to get the medics properly interested because I didn't go straight to A&E, I've still got knee problems & getting treated a couple of years later.

yeah totally should've got his details as the bike might be a write off!! just the adrenaline from the accident made me lose the rag a little...added to the fact that I was watching him the whole way...looking right at his face which never say me till I was on my ass!

went to a A&E and got checked up...feeling a bit sore but nothing major!! sorry to hear bout ur knee man!

Police will check local cctv for the car you described ....hopefully they will see the Reg !
Hope your not to badly injured....

fingers crossed the police have some luck finding the guy as I did have a fairly good description of him and the car but if no luck i'll have a look around where the I got hit as it's a one entrance/exit housing scheme!!
and im surprisingly okay considering just a few scrapes and bruises but thanks for ur concern!!

Take it easy!
You're going to be sore in the next few days I bet.
I hope the guy can be found and you get it all sorted.

Glad to know you're not too badly injured, it could have been far worse ... No matter what happens, even if only a slight knocked off with no damage, always involve the police, I know it's difficult thinking about things, once you've had a scare like that, but always call them.

Check the local shops/businesses as well as asking the council if they have any that cover the area. Hopefully you'll have a rough idea of the time. Doesn't have to be correct to the minute either.

Has as already been pointed out contact the MIB via their site. You can download both forms, untraceable driver & uninsured driver. Both ask for a description of the incident. Who was going where, vehicles involved. Get yourself checked as soon as is possible and make no attempt at getting back on a bike until you have been checked over by a doctor.

Get photographs of all injuries sustained, using something like a credit card(hard to dispute the size) to show the size of the affected area. Some will become apparrent as time goes on. Keep notes of what effects you feel.

MIB require two quotes for the bike repair, whichever form you fill in. Again make no attempt to ride it & check & photograph any damage that you find. Check for any possible damage that may help in matching up of the car involved. Find any, photograph it.

Its then back to the scene and get pictures from there. Showing your direction of travel as well as that of the other vehicle as well as the road conditions. Take at leat one looking back from your intended direction of travel. You might be lucky if you go back around the same time and have the same car come past you. It will also show what traffic is like at that time of day.

I'm going to say ignore the fact that you were in a cycle lane and treat it as though you were on the road proper. Your description of the area will include this fact however. As will the pictures you take.

Also take a look at statement template! on here. Pinned post by Vikeonabike, in Commuting.
Search Accident Advice, title only for more details on what to do.

Main thing is you're able to complain about it, hopefully not seriously injured. The bike can be replaced or repaired a lot easier than you can. Hope it doesn't put you off riding.
