Going to change my pedals from flats to clipless and I read somewhere that it's a good idea to grease the thread before fitting. Firstly, is this necessary and secondly if so can anyone recommend me some grease? Ta. ;)

Well the threads are probably steel (or titanium?) and the cranks are aluminium, so some sort of lube will stop them corroding together.

Any grease works well. In fact a big tub of car grease from Halfords will last you forever and a day in all your bearings as well.

I put copper grease on the pedal threads, and abit on the hole where the pedal goes in, before putting the pedals in.
Got a big tub from halfrauds, and ive hardly used any, so its going to last a long time.

funnily enough, i just changed my pedals and the lbs bloke asked if i had greased them first. i said no so he said he'd take them off and do it for me when he tweaked the deraillieur.

makes sense cos it was a right bugger to get one of the old ones off cos of the corrosion!
