Groupsets - Mix and Match ??

Upgrading my trusty speed I tawt I liked the Campag Chorus groupset. I do, I`ve decided, but I don`t like the price ( around the £700 mark ). Is it possible to buy the Centaur set ( level below Chorus ) AND the Chorus shifters ( really like the look of those ). Is this problematic in any way ( I`ve never built up a bike ). The Centaur set is around the £400 mark. Ta for any comments provided.

AFAIK, everything Campag is inter-operable with the exception of the older BB/chainset combination where Record and Chorus used a narrower spindle compared to the lower groupsets, ie: you can't use a Record BB with a Centaur chainset and vice versa.

But, watch out for the new 11 speed shifters, they will not be compatible with 10 speed systems.

I've found Merlin cycles are doing Campag groupsets cheap at the mo.
