Once upon a time, I used to wear a WW1 german infantry helmet whilst MTBing.

It saved my life once when I took a a jump, and I managed to spike myself into an overhanging branch whilst I watched my bike plummet into the crevasse below.

Anyone that went to the Get Cycling Show would have seen my beutiful hat.
Its been all over Europe and England, used to wear it to cycle but it used to blow off or get too sweaty.

I wear a plain unbadged Glengarry without the pompom or the dicing, which have slightly sectarian ovetones:

The ribbons flutter nicely in the breeze. People come up and ask me if I'm in the Boys' Brigade or something.

I don't like wearing anything on my head but a bald head means that if I'm out in the sun for more than an hour something is needed. On the bike a helmet does the trick very well and also has some other potential advantages, off the bike I'm very original and wear various baseball type caps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love hats, fedoras and trilbys especially. I do worry a bit about adding more to my height though as at 6' 5", I'm tall enough already.

I also love doing hat manipulation and juggling. This sort of thing.

I, er, 'acquired' a policeman's helmet when working at a police station that was being refurbished!

Struggling to find a use for it! Doesn't really go with my nurses uniform!
