Help with windows movie editor please

Trying to edit out a bit that shows a taxi overtaking too close after honking at me (said taxi being an old friend, i.e. one that has given me trouble before).

I've imported this into windows movie editor, which gives me 49 clips... and ends before the good bit, i.e. its not importing anything after a certain point. I can't fathom why, and I can't edit out and save the bit I want because it comes after that.

Any advice?

I don't let movie maker make clips from the file, as I rather edit the file directly. Have you tried playing the last clip and seeing whether it contains the bit you want? The algorithm that determines when to clip isn't always reliable.

Also, you could try playing with VirtualDub - this is really useful for trimming off bits of the video you don't want, and can output the rest without re-encoding it, and thus no loss in quality.

If you drag and drop the video into the WMM window it doesn't split it into clips, or you could set it up as BM suggests.

+1 on editing using VirtualDub. Much easier using edited footage in WMM.
