By the middle of next week, those places that aren't cold will be feeling quite warm.

... and where it doesn't rain, it will stay quite dry.

  7. The winter never lasted long here, it turned really nice the other day (summer ;)); its turned wet and windy again however, (the start of winter 08/09:sad:)

It's still not great here but the weather turned somewhere near the end of March. The sudden howling gales and continuous rain showers lessened and went. Sure it's windy, though more of a strong draft than something that's got the power to lift the roof and blow bins over, it hasn't rained for 3 days but despite the sun, the wind is still bitter. The barometer has certainly recorded a few more highs in the last few weeks than it did over the whole of winter.

Surely we have had our summer and we are now in the 08/09 winter?

Told you it had been dry. Local volunteer fire brigade have just gone rushing by to put out a peat fire on the hill, big long line of fire, glowing away. I'll keep you updated ;)

Aren't we suffering from the effects of La Niña at the moment?

Well! it's curious that a number of fires last year seemed to be on the popular stalking hills. Can't imagine why .
