I often go to sleep at about 1/2 o'clock and wake up about 7.30(Weekday)/11(weekend).

This is nowhere near the amount of sleep that is suggested but who here actually keeps to the guidelines?

I like to have about 8 hours, and certainly not less than 6.

In the winter, especially as I'm not working, I'm sleeping about 10 hours: lovely.

I'd like some sleep. Not happened much since my RTA 3 years ago! On some more drugs now that are supposed to ease nerve pain, but make you sleepy. Read "OLD rusty diesel" in the mornings.... no fun.

A night's sleep would be a xmas wish !

Average is about 4hrs per night. On early shifts or sometimes when I can't sleep it might be 90 mins to 2hrs. If I am particularly tired or it needs topping up after a lot of exercise or work I might get 8hrs or more. Sometimes outside the winter I have stints where it almost approaches 'normal' and averages about 6 or even 7hrs a night for a while, but it always goes back down before long.

Wow, you are younger than me and you manage on that. I now need about 8 hours ish, but don't ever get anything like that without meds.

It's horrible if you can't sleep and have a partner - I end up on the sofa to allow my wife to sleep - back to 2-3 nights a week doing that.

I go through long stints of nothing even approaching enough sleep, either not being able to drop off or waking up after a few hours and that's that, and then I sleep too much and simply cannot open my eyes in the morning, even with two alarm clocks set on snooze, going off every five minutes between them ... and then the whole pattern starts over again.

It's definitely much easier being a bad sleeper when you're living on your own, not just for the reasons that fossy mentions, but when I'm ridiculously tired but can't sleep, the sound of someone else snoring, for example, is like a form of torture. At least when I poke the dog to wake her up at 3am, she wags her tail and is pleased to see me!

As long as I breathe, I attack.
On days i get my head down for 7 hours, end up with maybe 6 hours sleep, on nights it is more like 5 hours actual sleep even though i can be in bed resting for more like 8 hours.
At the weekend i would get up at the "normal " time as i like to get the jobs around the house done and then sunday can be a club run.Even if i wanted a lie in mini ck#1 means i get no chance,of course that has all gone out of the window atm what with nappies and bottles, been getting about 3 hours sleep .

Maker of Things
Since last weekend:
Saturday night - 2 hours
Sunday night - 2 hours broken sleep
Monday night - nil
Tuesday night - nil
Wednesday night - nil
Thursday night - 1 hour broken sleep
Friday night - 2 hours

I have a sleep problem, I can't get any sleep and in the mornings I am trapped in a groggy waking dream state that exhausts me and leaves me headachey and drained.
