I have recently regained my youthful enthusiasm for cycling and now ride my Specialized Allez Comp to and from work most days. I have decided to celebrate my 50th birthday next year by doing the LEJOG solo and unsupported using B&B's.
I have been doing extensive research (possibly too much) trying to decide what bike to purchase for the trip. I had decided on a Specialized Tricross as this seemed to give me greater flexibilty in its use than a standard tourer and could be fitted with racks etc. However having just visited my trusty LBS they cannot get a 2009 model for me in my size and as I dont like the appearance of the 2010 model I am back to square one.
Does anyone out there have advice on which make/model I should be looking at (Dawes Galaxy range , Cannondale........). I havn't got a bottomless pit of money to spend but I do realise that you only get what you pay for in this life and my personal comfort during the LEJOG is paramount.
