...when I had just returned from a visit to my landlord - the solitary neighbour that I shall be troubled with, I found myself transformed on my bike into a giant insect. It was a dark and stormy night and my purpose was to tell of bodies which have been transformed into shapes of a different kind. The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

Many years later, as I faced the firing squad, I will remember that distant afternoon when my father took me to discover ice, but that ain't no matter. It was the day my grandmother exploded.

All this happened, more or less. And we were the last people you'd expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because we just didn't hold with such nonsense.
