Rather than police call for women to stay off the streets to keep themselves safe, it would be more appropriate to call for men to stay off the streets to keep women safe.

The reactions to this suggestion have been rather more revealing than the suggestion itself, in my opinion as a man.

The irony is that there'd need to be a lot of female coppers out at night to police it that would likely go someway towards making women feel more comfortable out at night if there were no curfew at all...

If there was a curfew for men at night then only the criminals would go out. Women would be lulled into a false sense of security and attacks might increase.

I guess she’s suggesting this to draw attention to the problem but it’s completely unworkable and impractical. Might work in specific areas where there is a problem.
