Kelso-ish ride recommendations please

Staying just south of Kelso for the next few days.
Would appreciate some suggestions for rides that take in some pretty sites & maybe a cycle accessible ruin or two but will be on road tyres. Happy with some smoothish gravel.

Can't go wrong really in that area, just stick as much to the minor roads as possible and it's all great cycling.
Depends how long you like your rides to be?
But if you head out towards Morebattle then south on the minor roads via Chatto and Swinside etc. over into Jedburgh (abbey, jail,etc) and back to Kelso via Ancrum, Nisbet and Roxburgh, that would make pretty good ride.
Nice garden cafe on the B6400 between Ancrum and Nisbet, just after Harestanes where there is also a cafe.

Probably one about six hours and a few under two hours - probably to meet up with the rest of the family for lunch / visiting sites then riding back.
