We've booked accommodation in advance for out LEJoG trip - a variety of small hotels and guest houses.
One of them wanted payment in advance so having got one cheque sorted I thought we might as well get them all done and sent. That way we don't have to worry about taking cheques with us. One less thing to worry about and all that.
Having sent them off I got confirmation from all the places except one who e-mailed me to say they had no record of our booking. Despite e-mails confirming we wanted the rooms they'd not confirmed them and subsequently let them to someone else!!
Had we not sent the cheques in advance we'd have turned up in Bristol and found we had nowhere to stay after cycling 85 miles to get there.
So, if you are doing as we did and booking places in advance - check and double check that it's all confirmed.
