Damn. I don't actually need anything. But I will have to go and browse. I already have a spare pair of cycling shoes stashed away for when the current two pairs eventually kick the bucket (which could be years away!)

Notice how Lidl's advertising people have chosen a Lance Looky-likey to model their helmets! Complete with small child to get the mums' vote too.

@26 x 25 (if I may be so informal), their stuff is cheap for a reason. It doesn't fit particularly well and the fabrics are hardly state of the art (and in my bikesnob mode, it just looks cheap). Open your wallet a bit more and buy something that's a bit more fashionable, well designed and is probably going to last for three years of hard riding. This is your hobby after all.

That said, their mitts for £2.99 are actually pretty good!

Often, yep, but I got a tremendous winter jersey from Aldi 2yrs ago for about 15 quid... better than stuff I've seen selling in shops for 100+. AND they threw in a decent pair of winter tights for nowt, as there was no price on them and it was the last pair on the rack

On inspection and reflection, much of their stuff seems useable, but personally, I'd swerve the shorts and shoes.

I'm going out on a limb here, but didn't you use to live in Ladywell, Fnaar?

The stuff is "mixed". I've got 2 pairs of winter longs I bought 3 years ago. They've been fantastic (if a little warm) for a daily commute, and are just starting to wear out. Likewise with winter gloves (best gloves I've ever had), and some summer mits which were fine for the cost.

A mate bought the shoes, and they were OK. He used them with no problems for 12 months before updgrading - cheap way to intruduce clipless pedals.

However I've also bought an unwearable pair of bib shorts that had a pad that was plainly designed for something other than human anatomy, and a gilet that split in days.

Oh and anything with a zip should be inspected carefully.... the zips tend to be made of cheese and fail very quickly.
